OVERVIEW
Join us for the annual educational and networking opportunity you do not want to miss, the 4th Annual AFE Founders Day Celebration & Legislative Summit! The 2021 AFE Founders Day Celebration & Legislative Summit (Founders Day 2021) will be a virtual event powered by vFairs and feature a lineup of outstanding speakers plus multiple opportunities to earn continuing education credits or professional development hours (PDHs). Founders Day 2021 will explore the subject of "Buildings & Workforce Development Policy." Founders Day 2021 will also feature a virtual exhibit hall showcasing services and solutions provided by AFE Partners from around the globe.
For more than a century, the Association for Facilities Engineering (AFE) has led the way in providing educational resources and professional tools to active and emerging building maintenance, facilities management, plus design and construction professionals around the globe. The AFE Founders Day Celebration, our premier annual networking event, not only celebrates that legacy but also provides an opportunity for our Members and guests to broaden their personal and professional networks while exploring new business opportunities. Last year, Founders Day expanded to include a one-day conference plus a silent auction to benefit the AFE Foundation. That tradition continues with our annual legislative summit, which will delve into prevailing legal trends and pending legislation from across the United States that affect the built environment.
Since 2019, AFE Founders Day has become an opportunity to recognize an individual whose work in the FM space embodies the same spirit that inspired Harry S. Dennison and E. B. Freeman to plant the seeds that spurred the formation of the Plant Engineers Club in 1915, which eventually grew to become the American Institute of Plant Engineers (AIPE) and finally matured into AFE. So, it was fitting the AFE Founders Award should be renamed for the late, great Fred W. King, humanitarian and long-time AFE leader on both the local and national level. Fred King not only modeled the principles underlying the intent of this special recognition through his many personal and professional accomplishments, but Fred also paved the way for scores of emerging FM professionals throughout the State of Minnesota and beyond to experience growth in their careers and make lasting contributions of their own to the profession. Therefore, The Fred W. King Award for Lifetime Achievement, awarded annually during the AFE Founders Day Celebration, recognizes an AFE Member who has made an indelible mark on both the built environment and community-at-large. Please submit your nomination for The Fred W. King Award by completing this form.
In addition to fellowshipping among your colleagues and peers, we will also host a special silent auction to benefit the Association for Facilities Engineering Foundation (AFE Foundation). The AFE Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, seeks to advance research and education in engineering and other scientific fields related to the built environment by funding research, granting scholarships and sponsoring educational events. Please follow this link to find out more about the AFE Foundation and how you can contribute.
We look forward to seeing you on August 24th for Founders Day 2021!
