On May 25 2017 at 3:00 PM, the monthly Chapter 6 meeting will include a virtual tour of the PJM Interconnect facility located at 2750 Monroe Blvd. Audubon, PA 19403. Go to the second PJM building, the "Conference and Training Center". NOTE: If your GPS doesn't recognize "Audubon", then try the address using Norristown as the city.
PJM currently coordinates a pooled generating capacity of more than 185,000 megawatts and operates wholesale electricity markets with more than 950 members. PJM enables the delivery of electric power to more than 61 million people in all or parts of Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
PJM manages a sophisticated regional planning process for generation and transmission expansion to ensure continued reliability of the electric system. Using information technology, PJM provides real-time information to market participants to support their daily transactions and business decision-making. In addition to ensuring the reliable supply of electricity, PJM administers Internet-based bid markets in which participants buy and sell day-ahead and spot market energy, financial transmission rights, synchronized reserves and regulation services.
Important note: The PJM Interconnection is a secure facility and we will need to provide a final list of attendees no later than noon on Monday May 22. So please be sure to make a reservation by then. We will not be able to accommodate any last-minute walk-ins. Also, be sure to bring your driver's license (photo ID) to secure a visitor's badge.
The post-tour dinner will be at Applebees located at 555 S. Trooper Road, Norristown, PA (<5 minutes from the tour)
