A Welcome from the Chairman
As energy efficiency, sustainability and other goals make facility systems continually more complex, AFE is here to keep members abreast of new developments and trends in our profession.
AFE provides its members many types of support, including the opportunity to network with thousands of like-minded professionals, training and certification, free webinars, and the opportunity to participate in local chapter activities.
We often say that most AFE members consider their facilities to be their masterpieces—and that we provide the resources to make those facilities even better. We’re here to help our members, as we have been since AFE started as The American Institute of Plant Engineers in 1954.
AFE recognizes that all workplaces share common facility engineering, maintenance and management functions—and this is the common bond among AFE members. At the same time, different industry segments have unique needs. The AFE Council allows members to interact with colleagues in related fields.
AFE's web site provides access to all of AFE's training and certification programs, many of which are free to members. InfoCentral houses a rich array of resources, including model policies and procedures. The web site also provides direct access to news of local chapter activities and membership support.
In a more traditional format for sharing information, AFE's Facilities Engineering Journal—a bi-monthly magazine provided free to members—is a world-class source for up-to-date technical information and news related to facilities engineering.
At AFE, we’re all very excited about the upcoming Facilities America Conference to be held October 5-6, 2010. It’s hard to beat the excitement of attending a conference with hundreds of facilities professionals in a city like Las Vegas. But for year-round networking and career development, I think there are very few events that can beat the excitement of AFE Chapter meetings. A Chapter meeting is where you can learn how other industry professionals deal with the same issues you deal with on a day-to-day basis. At the same time, you get to share how you deal with those same issues.
With AFE, you are not alone! We invite you to browse our web site and encourage you to become a member so that you can enjoy all the many benefits AFE has to offer.
